Synopsis
While on his way back to the Ponderosa, Hoss is robbed and injured. As he is making his way along the road, he is offered a ride by the Vandervorts. Just as they are about to part ways, Hoss collapses and the Vandervorts take him to their farm. When Hoss regains consciousness, he finds that he has no memory of who he is. He takes on the name of Heinrich and begins a life with the Vandervorts. Meanwhile, Ben begins a search for his missing son. When he finds Hoss, Ben must decide whether to tell Hoss the truth and risk harming his son for good.

Synopsis
Julia Grant and her son, Tommy arrive at the Ponderosa to speak to Ben about the position of teacher at the Virginia City School. They instead find Joe, who invites them to stay. The Cartwrights soon find out that Julia wants to be an actress but Adam sees it as a problem. To keep her from going to San Francisco, Joe gets his friend Larkin to hire her for his club. When she finds out that Joe is paying her wage, she decides to leave. Joe asks his family for help and Adam steps in with the offer of getting acclaimed actor Edwin Booth to audition Julia.

Synopsis
Hoss loses a thoroughbred, that he and Adam have just purchased, in a poker game. Adam intends to run the horse in the Virginia City Sweepstakes and in order to get it back he needs $160. Knowing that they can’t approach their father for the money, Adam and Hoss decide to ask Joe for it. They make a deal with Joe, who gives them the money. The two brothers believe that their plan will work until Joe makes another deal with Enos Milford, who wants to run a horse of his own in the race.

Synopsis
Ponderosa ranch hand Danny Morgan is accused of murder.
